Block B:
- Over the weekend, please read Chapter 2 in Strength in What Remains. Make notes of your observations, questions and connections and bring your notes with you to class.
- Read your independent reading book as well!
Block C and E:
Check out this woman, "creeping about behind that pattern. ..I don't like it one bit!" |
We finished "The Yellow Wallpaper" today! I was so happy to be a part of such an enthusiastic discussion. You did a nice job reading closely and thinking analytically. Over the weekend, I would like you to consider the story, as well as the other non-fiction texts we looked at in class, including "Why I Wrote 'The Yellow Wallpaper,'" as well as the article about Mitchell's "Rest Cure." Please write a three paragraph response, using the following recipe:
- Your first paragraph is a summary of the short story.
- Your second paragraph is a reaction to the story. “I think...” “I wonder...” “I notice...”
- Your third paragraph explores connections to the story. What in your schema (background knowledge) relates to the story?
Block F:
Today you worked independently to develop your ideas and support the essay you will be writing over the next week or so. This weekend, continue to map out your ideas and develop your argument. When we return to class on Tuesday, I will be giving you some writing guidelines and we will be drafting your responses.
