Using your midyear exam draft, complete the Literary Essay Planning Guide. Be thorough and thoughtful as you complete this first part of the revision project.
Block C:
Finish the questions of the handout we started in class today on DENOTATION and CONNOTATION. Write a CER paragraph in response to the last question on the handout, using your notes from listening to the Serial podcast to help you.
Block E:
Today we started to consider what makes for a compelling protagonist. We looked closely at Updike's "A&P" and started watching the film About a Boy based on Nick Hornby's novel. Over the vacation week, read and annotate Margaret Atwood's short story "The Stone Mattress." We will consider all three texts when we return.

Read and annotate "The Pony Problem" and write a reading response (using the instructions on the goat sheet).
Your Choice piece is due on Friday.
Block F:
Work on your theme project and presentation. You will have class time on Wednesday and part of Thursday, and all presentations will happen on Friday.
Block G:
Work on your mind map due on Thursday. You will make your presentation in class on Thursday, and you will have the entire block on Wednesday to work on your map. Remember to include lots of good evidence from the texts as you make your connections.
