Thursday 2.4.15: Homework

Block E:
Write your one-page CHOICE piece for Friday. Save it to your Google folder and PRINT out a copy BEFORE you arrive to class.

Block F:
1.Finish preparing for your presentations tomorrow. We will start when the bell rings, so be sure all of your materials are in order before you arrive.
2. Read the intro materials for Frankenstein as well as Letters 1-4 for Tuesday.
3. Prepare for book club on Tuesday.

Block G:
1. Good work on the presentations today. We will finish them on Monday when we return.
2. Study for your vocabulary quiz next week.

Wednesday 2.3.16

Block F:
Prepare for your presentation on Friday.
Read the introductory materials on Mary Shelley, as well as Letters 1-4 in the novel for Tuesday.
Read you book club book for the meeting on Tuesday 2/9/16.
Vocabulary quiz on Friday 2/12.

Block  G:
Prepare for your presentation tomorrow. Be sure your mind map contains MORE than just story summary. Your presentation should feature the insights you've gathered in looking at all three texts together.

Block B:
We will finish Restrepo on Friday. Be sure to take careful notes while you are watching and bring your notes with you to each class.
Read your independent reading book

Block C:
Revisit your midterm essay and use the writing checklist to determine what areas you need to revise. Bring your checklist and your essay to class for a writing workshop on Friday.

Block B:
Study for your vocabulary quiz tomorrow!

Block C:
1.Write a reflection to today's Socratic Seminar, answering the following question: Which text tells the story of a soldier's experience better and why?
2. Study for your vocabulary quiz tomorrow!

Block E:
Write your "Territories of Writing" list in your journal and attach one artifact as well.
Choice piece due Friday. We will have lab time on Thursday.

Monday 2/1/16

Block C:
1. Study your new vocabulary words by making flashcards or a quizlet.
2. Write a three part response to the film Restrepo.  Use the directions we set up today in class (summarize, respond, connect).

Block E:
Read and annotate "The Pony Problem" and write a reading response (using the instructions on the goat sheet).
Your Choice piece is due on Friday.

Block F:
Work on your theme project and presentation. You will have class time on Wednesday and part of Thursday, and all presentations will happen on Friday.

Block G:
Work on your mind map due on Thursday. You will make your presentation in class on Thursday, and you will have the entire block on Wednesday to work on your map. Remember to include lots of good evidence from the texts as you make your connections.

Get your materials for class and bring them with you on Monday! You need: a new composition book, a glue stick, an independent reading book, and your signed syllabus form.

Block F:
1. Read and annotate the first chapter of The Interestings.
2. Read and annotate the two film reviews for The Man in the Moon and then write your one-pager for class on Monday.
3. Keep reading your book club book for next Friday's meeting.

Block G:
1. Write a one-pager on The Man in the Moon

Get your supplies for class, ask your parents/guardians to complete the contact form, and write a GOLDEN sentence based on our discussion this morning.

Block F:
Prepare for book club meetings tomorrow.
Read and annotate the film reviews for The Man in the Moon and write a one-pager for Monday.

Block G:
Read and annotate the film reviews for The Man in the Moon

Block B: 
We will finish your mind maps up tomorrow in class while we conference about your course selection. Come prepared to finish your map and get ready for your presentation.

1. Review the selection of stories we've read in this unit and make some choices about what you would like to use in your mind map. Make preparations so that you are ready to begin on Tuesday. You will have the full block to work.

Block C:
Review your materials for the exam next week. Bring everything with you to class on Tuesday for our review session.

Block E:
Finish up your independent project and portfolio. Remember to make a selection that you would like to share with the group.
